I wonder how many whities are going to complain that a classic is being ruined by an all black cast.

RE: The new Wonder Years
I have at least three shows mixed up in my head as one show, and these are: Wonder years, Brooklyn Bridge, I'll Fly Away. And that's probably because they are about generic white families (although sometimes set in different eras), so change is good.

For instance, I remember a scene in a diner where a young Jewish man (maybe played by David Krumholtz) complains about how Christians have a Jew hanging in their houses, but if they see a live one they go berserk - but where is that from?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

All of them. Remember these are the same who insisted mermaids were white when they suggested a black Ariel in The Little Mermaid remake. Despite the fact, mermaids are present in African mythology and are most definitely not white.

What I want to know is do they still retain the awesome 60s rock soundtrack? Also, the white best friend has the most awesome name: Brad Hitman. I wonder if my childhood would have been different if I had that name. "Leave Brad alone. Fuck with him and he'll kill you and even make a tidy profit from your death."

Mermaids do not have any particular skin tone, mermaids are magic. They exploit the views of those that are being seduced.

I don't know how many, but it'll be the same waterheads who bitched about 'The Wiz', 'One Day At A Time', 'Annie', 'The Honeymooners', etc, etc.

I really don't care as long as they water ski over a shark in at least one episode.

Just watched the trailer. I really like the premise and it looks well made. If only the story of black/white division would be resolved we could look back on stories like this and laugh at ourselves. My only criticism is that the title hides the value of the show. The original WY wasn't about racial issues at all but that appears to be a central theme of this show. Granted, any black kid growing up in the 60's had to deal with racial shit but for a lot of white kids it was nothing. Maybe that's the point.
Why is it so?

I'd think the music will still be good but instead of 60s rock it would be 60s Motown.
