Cash on hand?
September 28, 2021 at 3:53 pm
How much cash do you keep on hand?
I saw a guy at the store - I shit you not - attempting to buy breath mints with a goddamned credit card.
No cash on him. And he gets pissy because the store owner refuses to do it. (The owner would lose money).
Personally I almost always have over $100 in my wallet. $4-500 isn' t unusual....I NEVER venture out without some.

I just checked - $145. I almost never use cash, as debit is more convenient, especially during Covid (though I realize that cards are bad for privacy).

Usually around $50. Sometimes as low as none. My wife sometimes has several thousand with her. *bad Mr. T voice* I pity the mugger.

In the USA, I don't usually carry much cash. In Mexico, which is far more cash-based, I usually carry about 2000-3000 pesos ($100-150), more while we're on a road trip (tolls, gas, etc).

~$200. But I still put most things over $20 on the card, cash back incentive.

I don't have a credit card. Debit card only. The wife has the cash. Something about: "someone needs to be the responsible one in the marriage!" Whatever...

I know, right? You buy ONE pair of matched taxidermy owls and suddenly you’re ‘irresponsible’ and ‘childish’.
Sheesh.

I've had to resort to getting a temporary "Aust Post" credit card, putting cash on it (cash job from work she doesn't know about) and buying my computer parts online using the card and getting them delivered to my work. She just doesn't understand that to play games in "ultra resolution" requires a graphics card with balls. Not to mention all the other stuff she has no idea about. I tell her I need to spend $100 to buy some rgb fans. (then I install $5,000 worth of parts when she's not looking.)

I find cash comes in handy if you meet up with a homeless person or someone collecting for charity.
