Do you have video to support this accusation?

You could probably sell it.

But yes, I do blurt and blurb. Did I mention my Washington Football team sucks huge donkey balls?

This really can't be the first time you noticed being referred to as 'Fernando'?

I know this isn't the first time. I but I find it funny that many miss the point in all of my ABBA posts or comments, I don't treat everyone of their songs as pure GOLD. There are some songs they made I am not fond of, "Fernando" is one of them. Not because of the topic, but because of the music.

Now if you want to get into a "Ford Vs Chevy" or "Coke vs Pepsi" even between ABBA fans, just so you know. As an ABBA fan, if I told other fans of ABBA that I didn't like the song "Fernando", it would be a Sunni vs Shiite argument. I am not kidding. Even among ABBA fans there are divisions and lines in the sand as far as likes and dislikes.

Let me see if I can simplify the tax thing.

On a pack of cigarettes, or other tobacco products, there is an excise tax that is a flat rate that is different from state to state usually based on the item sold...as in there is a $1.41 excise tax on a pack of 20 cigarettes in the state of Texas.

That excise tax is added to the pack price which is then taxed with sales tax. As the price of cigarettes fluctuates (that means goes up and down) the total amount of the pack of cigarettes changes because sales tax is a percentage that includes state, and possibly, local taxes.

Again. The argument from the top, be it about smokes, or gas, or any product we by, toilet paper, soda, anything. The argument  from the top is always "If you raise taxes we have to pass that down to the consumer. Of course in business theory of course, there is no point in owning a business if you don't make a profit. I get that. Even outside of business, if your rent goes up, there will be a potential point where you decide you cant afford the rent. My point is with the top, the uber billionaires, not the middle or working class, not the mom and pop shops.

But at this moment in time, I have no sympathy for Amazon or Jeff Bezos or Zuckerburg.

14cents on a gallon of gas isn't bankrupting the buyer, the gouging by the private corporation which charges you more than the sate does is hurting you. Depending on local today, 3 or 4 or 5 dollars per gallon, isn't a charge on tax, the tax per gallon is tiny compared to what the private company gets.

Ok and?

The issue is which is bigger in size?

14 cents in tax by government?

Or, 3 or 4 or 5 dollars that the private company gets after you pay that tax on each gallon, if we are talking about gas. $1 dollar tax per pack of smokes in government tax, vs the 5 or 10 dollars the private company profits off of. What is the difference?

Again, I am not good at math. But I am pretty sure that 14 cents is lower than 3 or for or 5 dollars.

What you don’t seem to realize is that it isn’t the amount of tax - on anything - that bothers conservatives, but that tax exists at all. Not all conservatives feel this way, but you couldn’t swing a dead cat at a conservative get together without hitting at least a couple who do.

The next time you get in a row with these types, you can point out that in New Zealand, petrol is USD$6.60/gallon, about 1/3 of which is taxes. In exchange for this, we get (mostly) free healthcare and no car insurance requirements.

Let me add a little 'fuel' to this dumpster fire.

Gas prices don't only fluctuate due to supply and demand. Here in Texas we are served up a summer blend and a winter blend. The winter blend is noticably cheaper.

Now...you would think that if people will pay X amount to put gas in their cars in the summer because they have places to go they would continue to put gas in their cars in the winter and would pay the higher summer blend price if that's what was charged at the pump.

Interestingly, a lot of people aren't even aware of that price change reason...seems to come every year along with the spring forward, fall back DST thing.

If he’d pony up, the missus and I would have a bigger house by now.
