It's an idiom, in this instance, it expresses the observation that you set out to make your crackpot ideas look sciencey. It also leaves open room, for comedic effect, that this is all you were trying to do...look sciencey.
Jokes are always more funny when you have to explain them.

That was a video primarily about the idea that *karr~kurr meant "to flow" in Illyrian. I don't see how that's a "crackpot idea".

No, I am a third-year computer science student who had to take a break from studying because of his mental health problems. But I have published a few papers about linguistics.
