RE: Transgenderism in the tech industry
Not having the desire to read through 11 pages, can someone provide a summary of this thread?

Given how it started, I doubt you or I missed much of value from the OP.

Basically,

"Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, hearsay, hearsay..."

Rinse and repeat.
Dying to live, living to die.

This thread was coming up on a year dead. The OP was long ago banned. For Christmas, I want the necroposting rule back. Digging up old threads in order to have somewhere to post a meme or a random ass comment is a pain and it screws up the flow of the forum...IMO. Some threads fade away because they should.

How about we just auto-close threads that are (mumble) days inactive? If there's interest I can investigate how to implement it.

That is a fantastic idea.  I'll throw the suggestion of 120 days or 3 months.  It's more than enough time for a new idea or comment to percolate.

We used to have the 30 day warning but I think we could go with little longer.  Some posts, like the pet thread, go dormant for a while but topical threads that fade away should stay that way.  Especially those that start badly and the OP gets banned.

Topics that rise up on the news, etc. can be handled with new threads or a request to reopen.

How about making threads that are pinned permanent and everything else 60 days?

I like this idea, however We're limited by what the software can do natively and with stable, supported plugins that don't require shell access to install. I'll look into it.
