FFS, Boru. Read to yourself what you wrote. You're practically making his point for him. I get that freedom of speech doesn't apply here. But are you saying that "if you don't like what he's saying" he ought to be head-broken and tossed out? Because that's how you made it sound. I don't think so. If he follows the rules, he can stay. That's forum policy, right? You didn't do a good job of conveying that in your post, imo.

To be fair, I don’t think this guy is posting with an iota of sincerity.

The bit about the head is a bit much but the rest of the house analogy is a sound one, imo. You are invited into anyones house, there are some things you aren’t going to say if you want to maintain a good relationship with the people who invited you. If you are overly rude, or say things they don’t like, they could ask you to leave their property. And that’s not a violation of free speech. That’s just common sense.

Deepity has already been given more chances than many people get.

Here's the deal - I'll talk slowly - You cannot post links to external information until you have met the 30/30 requirement.

A wall of memes on your first day is not needed, not impressive, and not allowed.

We have rules here...if you follow them, you are free to stay. If you don't like the rules here, find another here to be.

I get that. OP is a very likely a troll who has come here to antagonize us and not say anything substantive. And I know that factors in to Boru's tone. Just sayin...

I have been to many forums.  What I found is that right now there is more freedom of speech in Russia concerning the Ukraine than has ever existed on any topic at any forum.  (The media is almost as bad)  From what I have found, they all seem to be indirectly run by the government.  It is as Lenin said.  "The best way to control the opposition is to lead it ourselves."  And from the conversations I have managed to have to some degree at those other forums, all the members are just fine with that.  Will things be any different here?  I doubt it.  But feel free to prove me wrong.  Also, Frank Zappa did a song about TV called, "I'm the slime."  In it there is a lyric that I have found to be all too true.  It says, "Don't go for help, no one will heed you."

This category is supposedly about philosophy.  Most other forums also have a philosophy category.  They are meaningless.  Because without being able to speak the truth, no actual philosophy is possible.  I will show you some memes concerning freedom of speech.  If you follow the cult of lies and fantasy over reality, (and chances are you do) feel free to tell me which one offends you the most.

I didn't see your post before the content got deleted. Just judging from your thread title, however, I suspect you're on to something important.

Chris Hedges and other unpopular truth tellers often say that the Chinese media censors must be jealous of US media control, since the owners of the corporations obediently parrot the government line without having to be forced.

I think you'll find that a great many of the opinions on this forum are repeated from the corporate media. That's just about all of what people have to work with. And as always, there are tiny areas of debate allowed, to let us think we're independent. But as always, the strictest control comes from peers, not officialdom. You'll be able to identify the Self-Appointed Conformity Enforcers here pretty quickly.

You can still debate here, if you obey certain rules. Don't expect to be popular, though.

Thanks for the reply.  As you probably saw, I mistakenly thought I was posting in the philosophy section.  As for what I posted, one was to a website about a North Korean defector named Yeonmi Park.  In speaking of the indoctrination she was exposed to in an American university, she basically said "Not even North Korea was this nuts."  If she really wanted to experience oppression in that regard, she should try joining a political forum.  Or worse yet, this one.  I will also tell you of one of the "filthy" memes I posted.  It was of a person who I take it this forum regards as a piece of shit.  His name was George Washington.  What he said was, "If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."  Just how fucked up does a forum have to be to not allow such a meme.

Next, I have to disagree with a couple things you said.  One is that the owners of corporations parrot the government line.  Because the owners of corporations ARE the government.  The politicians are just their meat puppets.  Next, you say I can still debate here.  What happened to my thread proves that to be untrue.  Neither can you have any meaningful debate where truth isn't allowed.  I do know of a forum where it is allowed to some degree because it is a forum that deals with the truth.  But because most people find the truth to be so repugnant, that forum is practically a ghost town.  But if you want to know the name of that forum, here is the tricky part.  I doubt if I would even be able to tell you the name of that forum in a PM.  There is another forum out there that banned me for doing just that.

Claiming that this forum is about philosophy while actually posting in a politics forum amuses me quite a bit. Must be a russian troll.

Yes, I did make a mistake in thinking that this section was the philosophy section.  But that hardly makes me a Russian troll.  To set the record straight, Putin sucks ass.

You would be sure if it wasn't edited all to hell.  And it didn't have anything to do with the Ukraine.

No, I’m saying that if he continues to break the rules he’ll be tossed out. I accept that I didn’t express it very well. I’ll try again.

We run our home according to certain rules. One of those is a ban on certain words. If you come into my home and repeatedly use those words, you’ll eventually be sent packing. Not for using the words, but for ignoring the rule against them  (another rule we have is that our cats take precedence over any and all house guests, but that one doesn’t seem to apply here).
