Nope, the only thing it needs to demonstrate is that it happened which it did already. And what the majority thinks is irrelevant ... Dodgy

They were just tourists, right? Pay no attention to the gallows behind the curtain?

I'd suggest you read more, but unfortunately that's likely not in the cards ... and even if you did, I doubt you'd be able to bring yourself to read disparate views. You're swimming in a small goldfish bowl.

Quote:The stakes have risen for high-profile congressional hearings beginning later this week with the filing of seditious conspiracy charges against leaders of one of the most prominent groups involved in the January 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol.

The timing of the indictment is coincidental to the hearings, which will kick off with a prime time nationally televised session Thursday, but the seriousness of the charges drives home the importance of the investigation and is likely to draw more viewers to the broadcast.

A federal grand jury on Monday returned the superseding indictment alleging that former Proud Boys national chairman Henry “Enrique” Tarrio and members Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl and Dominic Pezzola conspired to use force to prevent members of Congress from certifying the results of the election in which President Joe Biden defeated former President Donald Trump.

Quote:But a new report by a nonprofit research group, and a separate review by NBC News, uncovered hundreds of social media posts discussing plans to move on the Capitol, including a map of the building and talk of how to create a stampede that would overwhelm Capitol Police.

"You know there will be riot police preventing us from getting in the capitol building," one anonymous poster wrote in December. "What if we created a stampede/crush situation? Start pushing from the back. Surely they will have to get out of the way or get crushed. They're not going to start shooting people."

One post on a very active forum for angry Trump fans called the TheDonald.win was titled "If we occupy the Capitol building, there will be no vote." The top response to that post reads: "GOTTA OVERWHELM THE BARRICADES AND COPS."

[...]

"There are thousands of posts — with tens of thousands of comments — detailing plans to travel to Washington and engage in violence against the U.S. Capitol," said Daniel Jones, a former FBI analyst and longtime Senate investigator who is now president of Advance Democracy. "The ultimate end goal of this violence was, on behalf of Trump, to disrupt the Congress and overturn the presidential election."

I agree with TGN -- supporters of this insurrection are traitors to our democracy.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I don't know how a bunch of completely unarmed protesters were going to take over the capital.

Unarmed? What reality do you live in?

Maybe he doesn't consider a flag pole used to beat a police officer an 'arm'? Or a fire extinguisher? Or stun guns, pepper spray, or baseball bats? Maybe he thinks the only kind of arms are firearms? I wonder what he thinks people were armed with in the middle ages.

They bashed in doors as well. Worse than that, they injured 140 Capital Police and murdered one.

Every one of them should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

I love how Liz ended the hearing, playing yet another clip of one of Trump's inner circle basically calling him nuts.

The doors weren't open, the one woman who was shot was crawling through a breach and video footage clearly shows the protestors trying to crush their way through police and barriers. They only needed to control the capitol building long enough to force the vote they wanted and kill Mike Pence and a few congress critters they really hated. Have you even seen the footage? And they were lucky only one person was shot, if the capitol police were actually prepared to repel a riot (like that would have been for BLM), things would have gone very differently. Despite fair warning, the capitol police had orders not to use their most effective deterrants, like stun grenades, on the rioters.

“Heavier, less-lethal weapons,” including stun grenades, “were not used that day because of orders from leadership,” Mr. Bolton wrote. Officials on duty on Jan. 6 told him that such equipment could have helped the police to “push back the rioters.”
