Vatican Admits: Life Evolved On Earth
#11
RE: Vatican Admits: Life Evolved On Earth
No Deus, no. First off Garbriel Funes was not speaking on behalf of the entire Vatican (that's what dope pope is for) when he was commenting on astrobiology.

Secondly, neither was he accepting the factual scientific findings of how life evolved on Earth, he only accepts the potential for life to originate and develop to resemble life on this planet without magic man *elsewhere in the universe*. He deliberately excludes Earth from the argument to bolster Roman Catholic supernatural beliefs, this fallacious approach that we've all heard a million times before is called special pleading.

Look it up.

The Pope will never comment on astrobiology because he knows nothing on the subject. When Father Funes stated that life could have evolved on other planets as we know on Earth it is an admission that life can evolve as we know it evolved on Earth. Father Funes is well aware that life evolved on Earth when he's trying to draw a parallel to prove his statement.

Didn't stop one of them from commenting on the use of condoms and their link with AIDS.

I agree. However, it isn't sacrosanct and true until the pope says it is. Has something to do with some fat lady singing.

Irrelevant - a spokesperson doesn't have to understand the contents of the announcement, they simply must be engaged or elected to speak on behalf of others.

Pedo pope is the head of the whole organisation correct? They can't even celebrate Mass in Churches designated as papal basilicas without his permission for fuck's sake. It's his job in Holy See to faithfully represent and advocate for the organization's positions, unless of course he nominates another in the Papal to speak on his behalf by reading his letters, or respond to certain annoying Catholic sex abuse cases at the diocesan and episcopal conference levels first.

This wasn't an Ecclesiastical response to the issue of accepting scientific facts relating to current bio-diversity and life evolving on Earth; this was Funes' own personal testimonial on his opinions of astrobiology.

Don't be so disingenuous Deus.

Who gives a flying fuck what the Vatican thinks or says..until they come clean with their rapist priests and bring them to justice, their organization is nothing more than a base for crimes that should be raided by the authorities.

The vatican and the pope have released statements numerous times over the years to this effect about life and humans evolving on this planet. I think it's still more or less unofficial at this point, but I'm certain that the catholic faith isn't a 'creationist' faith in the sense that they believe that the earth is 6,000 years old and all that.
I had to research this for a post in a discussion with statler waldorf and I've found older statements by the current and two previous popes to this effect.

So this is nothing new.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925

I couldn't agree more. The only thing stopping the Roman Catholic Church from correcting it's pedophilia problem is that once the defrockings begin they'd be left without a clergy.

The Church has admitted the truth of the theory of evolution for a WHILE. But this doesn't change anything. I have talked to some Catholic Creationists and their answer is "you know, even the Church can say stupid things sometimes". This is really frustrating but expected :/
