Decline of religion
#21
RE: Decline of religion
Since the pandemic attendance in the Lutheran church that I attend has plummeted. The largest percentage of those who have left the churches are defining themselves as no religious preference. Perhaps they will gravitate toward atheist. Christianity is growing in the world, but the country that was established on its principles is abandoning it. We'll see how it works out. It doesn't look good right now.

The United States wasn't founded on any religion. And the United States issues have nothing to do with a lack of religion..... Dodgy

Christianity inspired the Constitution by being so horrific that the founding fathers took away its power, and gave people the liberty to follow any sect or religion, or none, without fear or interference.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

It is Humanism principles, not Christian.

No, they flipping don't. They ooze enlightenment principles. They are closer to something a Humanist  Deist like Voltaire would write than anything in the bible.

RE: Decline of religion
In Christianity authority comes from God and his representatives on Earth like priests, kings, and pope, and not from individual humans. Humanism is the one that asks each human what they feel and want to shape society. So you have the voter deciding what is best for the people and you don't ask God or the Pope. You go to each human and ask him or her what they want. You don't go anymore and tell people "Yes, you might think that and feel this, but you are wrong because there is a higher authority saying that you are wrong," like it was in the middle ages, and is in now Islamic theocracies.

RE: Decline of religion
Declaration of Independence, says “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,” but the creator in question is the one of Deism, not Christianity.

In the Bible there is no such concept as the idea of unalienable rights (and certainly not in the Ten Commandments, the gospels, or the epistles). Rather, the idea of “unalienable rights” derives from the Stoics and their subsequent influence on pagan Roman legal theory.

The New Testament in fact denies equal rights: Paul himself is made to say (in 1 Corinthians 14:33–35) that women, even baptized Christian women, do not have rights equal to men, and again (in 1 Timothy 2:11–15) he is made to be even more explicit:
Let a woman learn in silence with full submission. I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she is to keep silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. Yet she will be saved through childbearing, provided she continue in faith and love and holiness, with modesty.
