Just great, what am I supposed to do with this now?

Let's see who can get the most threads locked before 2023! Who's with me?

RE: PSA: Update to necroposting rule
Come on, maybe you could have put a year's time.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

That's way too long.  If no one has anything relevant to add to a thread after 3 months they likely never will.

Besides if need be just make a new thread and link the old one.

And/or they could just unlock it

RE: PSA: Update to necroposting rule
Maybe the necro rule could only be for new users who have not been on the forum for like six months because they are the ones mostly reviving ancient topics without a good reason. Older members are wiser and they usually have a good reason to revive some old topic. Now, many of the "damned" topics will be out of reach, and yet the religious groups will be doing bad stuff so those topics will always be actual, but now users won't be allowed to post in them.

Number of posts =/= value of content

RE: PSA: Update to necroposting rule
Seriously, though - how awesome is it that we're (kinda sorta) resurrecting a rule about necroposting ?

This is a compromise from warning people who necropost to simply stopping the thread...with triple the time.

I just don't want to constantly do math to figure out who can and who can't do what when.  That's above my pay grade.

If a topic is important enough to be brought back to life...either start a new one or ask staff to reopen a thread.

If we put that 6 months rule in place someone would want a year and some would want the original rule back.

Then my mission is clear.  I must save those poor threads on the verge of being lost forever!
