Paul's visions in DUNE.

Much more readable is National Lampoon's parody novel Doon, in which Pall Agamemnides and his family are forced to leave their homeworld of Cowboydan for the dessert planet Arruckus, where Pall fulfills his destiny as the Kumquat Haagen-Dazs ('he who can bring many dishes to completion at once').

If you're not interested in reading several long books or waiting years for Denis Villeneuve to finish his adaptations of the Dune series, they have the adaptation of being about as faithful as you can reasonably expect from a low-budget basic cable miniseries. They're on YouTube, and a channel called Orodreth Artaresto has all six episodes of both series.
I tried watching "Children of Dune". That dog won't hunt. No faulting anybody, just not my thing now. I do plan to get the books. Started the second one when it came out but circumstances had changed. (High school student, then military, wildly different situations. I wound up reading The Mote in God's Eye on the side of an erupting volcano while smoking black Pakistani hash laced with opium. Different input.

I’ll add it to the list of stuff you don’t know.

And thereby double the size of the list.

Herbert makes it clear that Paul's visions were alternate timelines, to be chosen or avoided. Not sure what's so hard about that.

IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOKS THE FLASHBACKS CAN BE A LITTLE CONFUSING.

So read the books already. Any fool knows that the book is always better than the movie anyway.

Oh, before your "685 pages!" reply lands again, I'm 800 pages into Weinberg's 980-page history of WWII, A World at Arms. Taken me about a week so far.
