Divergent sexualities
RE: Divergent sexualities
Quote:You believe I (and my friends) need therapy,
I believe it's irrational and likely false

Quote:that my sexuality is not a sexuality,
By every means I understand that term, it's not

Quote: that all the professionals I've spoken to are wrong,
All the professionals you claim to have spoken to.

Quote:and that my love isn't love.
True enough

Quote: I have a personal interest in this, obviously. You are medicalising my sexual orientation.

So:
What therapy do I need?
Why?
How would it benefit me?
I understand you have an interest but it' seems weird still. And as I said I don't accept it's a sexual orientation.

You seem to be avoiding answering.

Let's reduce it down to just one at a time:
How would therapy benefit me?

OK. At this point it seems futile trying to have a civil discussion with you. Fair enough.

RE: Divergent sexualities
Going from my own experience with my Alison Lohman body pillow (which is less objectum sexuality and more of a substitute for something I doubt I'll ever be able to have or sustain for a bunch of reasons, closer to Lars and the Real Girl, if I'm honest), I suspect that part of Objectum Sexuality is related to this Harry Harlow experiment:

Perhaps the object of the OS' love is analogous to Harlow's wire mommy, something that provides comfort. Maybe something one can transpose one's desires and feelings onto because dealing with other people is too fucking complicated. Then again, maybe I'm just transposing the way my mind works onto other people when their mind works differently from mine.

That's an interesting point.

Many OS, though not all, are ASD and/or have some trauma. It may be much easier for them to form a bond with an object than human. Combine this with a touch of synesthesia and it makes sense for those type of OS. However, I'd be reticent to say that explains OS as there's many OS that don't that pattern. And it's easy to find ASD traits and trauma in almost anyone.

I think a human substitute object still counts as OS if you are attracted to it and have an emotional bond with it. There's an overlap/spectrum between OS proper (having a car as your lover) and human-like object love (dolls, pillows, chatbots etc). In OS groups I belong to there's a wide spectrum.
