People can be rude all they want. It's about how you respond to it.

Well that's my secondary question.

Should I continue as I usually am, which garners derision and seems unpalatable to most. Or should I just be obnoxiously rude and aggressive, which seems to be what people prefer?

And how did you vote?

I'm curious about the time you were derided for not being rude enough. I voted yes.

Some post on some thread. Iirc, the gist was that my civil way of posting is interpreted as arrogant condescension and a more blunt manner would be better.

Certainly that seems the example set by longterm posters and mods.

I don't perceive your posting as condescending, as a rule. I do think it's possible to be very rude without using any 'bad' words, but I haven't observed you doing that. And using 'bad' words isn't necessarily rude, it depends on intent.

On a tangential question, as it seems the preferred way of communicating on this forum is to be insulting, dismissive, aggressive, and hounding, should someone such as myself be better served forgetting the restrained and dispassionate civil posting style, and just play the same game as the majority?

In other words, rather than posting as I do, would it be better thought of here if I just called people cunts etc?
