I hear ya man. I try to think up cool things about a god, but I think most of them have already been done. For example, that post I did about a god who creates the universe but dies in the process. It doesnt even have to be a god. It could be a mortal scientist in a parallel universe who invented our Cosmos. Therefore our Cosmos was "created", but not by a god. A truely godless creation...the mortal scientist eventually dies of old age and leaves the "watch" over the experiment to his corporation, or his sons and daughters who are very technically advanced.

Of course, I dont believe a single word of what I am saying. As far as "hair standing up on the neck" factor, it does go pretty high with me. Smoke a jay and sometimes thoughts like that go randomly through my head. I dont fight them, I let them flow. To me it is inspirational and creative juices. Who knows what kind of music I will write, or maybe one day I will write a fictional story on some of the cool things I allowed to flow when I was faded. there is nothing wrong in THINKING about stuff like this, or even talking about it..but actually believing that it is MORE than fiction is not a smart move in my opinion...and I know that isnt what you were suggesting. I geared that statement to the religious folks.

That's cool ... like you, I don't believe a single word I'm saying about many theories myself. I just like to entertain fun ideas in my head. And besides, your idea of a mortal creating the universe in an alternate universe is no more implausable than any of the other ridiculous religion. Christianity is chalked full of the craziest shit I've ever heard. Look at Hinduism and Scientology. I mean, that shit is OUT THERE ... metaphorically.
Even a deist like myself, thinks its very plausible that even if there is a God, I may very well never get to meet him. Maybe thats what appeals to me the most about Deism, is the fact that I can have a God that has no parameters or restrictions. He could be literally anything and that's what makes it so fun. Plus it's impossible to offend me because of this.

First off, congratulations are in order for reviving a thread that's almost a year old. Well done.

Second, there are many premises out there where some theists/deists/pantheists believe god is no longer 'alive' or even a god any more.

This is down to a lack of imagination on your part. Imagine if you will, god is existence, he is all that exists in an endless void of nothingness, eventually he's no longer content with himself and becomes lonely. He tries to create another god to keep him company. Trying to divide himself results in its own "destruction", god from the singularity explodes in a big bang and his remains, energy that cannot be created or destroyed, form our universe today. Eventually the big crunch may one day occur when the cosmos contracts in on itself and god reforms and reconstitutes itself. It grows bored of being lonely again and tries to create another god only to suffer another explosion that forms a new universe, and so on, ad infinitum.

Heck, you want far out ideas? Some pandeists believe god intentionally broke himself up to create reality, his idea of the ultimate drama in action, and that we're all really god and won't realise that until we die.

I'm obviously not theist, but isn't this a woolly definition of God. Trying to create another God which results in his own destruction would defy the concept of Omniscience, and even to a certain extent Omnipotence, as it indicate he doesn't know, and secondly, cannot do everything.

Unless we're going back to a hugely powerful supernatural entity whom does not have these aspects, in which the definition of God becomes irrelevant and you could easily apply the definition to any sufficiently advanced alien etc.

Why can't he? Genesis 1:27...If god did create man in his image, and one of the characteristics of man is death, then isn't there a possibility that this characteristic was borrowed from god?

As I wrote last week. The First Law of Thermodynamics does not hold in Cosmology. An example is that as space expands the matter density decreases as expected but the density of the vacuum energy remains constant. Energy density is defined by the equation E/V. If V increases, what must E do in order for the value to remain constant? Some people really need to understand science or risk saying foolish things.

Not necessarily. The only qualifications for "God" that I can see are (1) conscious (2) powerful enough to get the ball rolling and (3) did so. The idea that God has since expired like all things in the universe has occurred to me. If this is the case, we need to honor Its legacy by building on the foundation we inherited.

Why be the one who "gets the ball rolling" a lot of ancient gods were responsible for little things like door ways and alcohol and did not start worlds.

To believe in a personal god and square that with a life of hardship and seemingly random disasters will be prone to create a capricious and angry god in all cultures.
