Did he? It sounds like that's just a quote by some demagogue who wants to connect bad things with bad people with no regards for what the bad people actually did or believed.

Also, how do you define socialism? Because, even as a socialist myself, America has never had socialism, even under Obama and Biden. The closest thing we've had is attempts to bring a watered-down version of what Western Europe has had (more or less hassle-free) for decades.
