The options:

-Stick with Vance, which hurts his chances in the general.

-Pick a new running mate before 7 August, which means admitting a mistake and makes him look indecisive.

Given his egomania, I expect he’ll go with Option #1. And I couldn’t be happier about it.

I guess it depends on what "otherwise" means in their rules:

Quote:Under Republican National Committee (RNC) rules, the committee can replace Vance as a nominee for vice president only in the case of “death, declination, or otherwise.”

Of course, with Lara Trump as the head of said RNC, I doubt they'd let a little thing like party rules stand in the way.

If he gets replaced, I suspect it’ll be that he ‘declined’ the nomination. Sort of like how local merchants ‘decide’ to pay protection money to the mob.

Declination sounds a lot like - you can't fire me, I quit.

Like most other Republicans, he sold what principles he had for a shot at power.

It's a common right wing affliction though I don't believe that they have any principles in the first place.

^^ It's weird encountering these conservatives in the medical field. They'll take care of the same people who are constant targets of bigotry in the republican political arena.

Or won't take care - official number of abortions is very low in Poland and unofficial is in thousands. Someone is doing them and I'm willing to bet much that it is the same doctors who won't perform them in public office because of their "conscience" and yet are very willing to do them when cash is offered. That aside I suppose even conservatives have some shred of decency left.

He apparently was a bit more liberal and tolerant as recent as seven or eight years ago. Not that those were actually principles, granted -- they too may have been a facade he adopted in order to enable advancement. But he apparently had a long-term friendship with a transgender woman (like, ten years long) before he adopted the whole Trumpian bigotry thing in the last four years.
