Is this just me or is this major shit? Vance is being called on to resign his senate seat. He is accused of terrorism.

Probably not. How big is the "undecided" vote there?

I would think this is the kind of thing that would overcome that.

Vance's story has caused bomb scares and shutting down of schools.

Of course, I cant conceive of anyone in their right mind voting for Trump in the first place so this may be wishful thinking on my part.

Vance demands apology over the bomb threats disrupting Springfield

The bomb threats disrupting life in the Ohio city of Springfield, where former President Donald Trump and his running mate have repeatedly and falsely claimed immigrants eat pets, has spurred a demand for an apology from an unlikely source: Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH).

"I'm still waiting on a correction and apology from the left wing journalists," Vance wrote. "They lied about these bomb threats to silence us."

Vance did not explain how he believes the media lied, but echoed a claim he made to Dana Bash on CNN Sunday, when he argued he was justified in creating stories if it focused journalists' attention on Biden Administration's policies.

Meanwhile, Springfield residents told a Raw Story reporter last week they too would like an apology — from Vance.

“I think it's very, very disgusting to have a running president and vice to even single out Springfield without them educating themselves," Denise Williams, president of Springfield's NAACP branch told Raw Story.

"I want J.D. Vance to apologize to our community because it was a disgusting remark, and it has fueled the fire that's already blazing here...I hope the word gets back to him that we really need him to apologize to the city.”

To be fair, Trump most often calls her a "Communist" of "Comrade Kamala", but yes, the point is apt.

ETA: I see he does feather in "fascist" between the other gibes.

What's really funny is that he's saying that if Harris is elected, the country will be ruled by "anarchy and tyranny." It's like he doesn't realize that those are diametrically opposed.

Vance was embracing one of their most cherished beliefs: America should belong to Christians, and, more specifically, white ones. “The American nation is an actual historical people,” says Stephen Wolfe (no relation to William), the author of the 2022 book The Case for Christian Nationalism, “not just a hodgepodge of various ethnicities, but actually a place of settlement and rootedness.” For this group of evangelical leaders, Vance, a 40-year-old former Marine who waxes rapturous about masculinity and women’s revered role as mothers, was the perfect tribune to spread their gospel of patriarchal Christian nationalism.

A group of young pastors hope to spearhead a Christian nationalist glow-up as they eagerly await a “Christian prince” to rule America. These often bearded thirty- and fortysomethings have suits that actually fit. They are extremely online, constantly posting on myriad platforms, broadcasting their YouTube shows from mancaves, and convening an endless stream of conferences for likeminded followers. Let’s call them, as one scholar I spoke with did, the TheoBros.

Many TheoBros, for example, don’t think women belong in the pulpit or the voting booth—and even want to repeal the 19th Amendment. For some, prison reform would involve replacing incarceration with public flogging. Unlike more mainstream Christian nationalists, like House Speaker Mike Johnson, who are obsessed with the US Constitution, many TheoBros believe that the Constitution is dead and that we should be governed by the Ten Commandments.

In American Reformer, their unofficial magazine, hagiographies of Spanish dictator Francisco Franco appear alongside full-throated defenses of countries that execute gay people. On podcasts, the TheoBros unpack “the perils of multiculturalism,” expose “Burning Man’s wicked agenda,” and peel back the nefarious feminist plot of Taylor Swift. In Wolfe’s The Case for Christian Nationalism, one of their seminal texts, he writes that in an ideal Christian nation, heretics could be executed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a new interview with The New Yorker that Ohio Sen. JD Vance ®, the Republican nominee for vice president, “is too radical.”

“He is too radical,” Zelensky said in the interview, released Sunday, of Vance.

In the interview, Zelensky said Vance’s “message seems to be that Ukraine must make a sacrifice.”

“The idea that the world should end this war at Ukraine’s expense is unacceptable,” the Ukrainian president continued.

Vance has previously raised doubt that the U.S. can continue providing military support to Ukraine, as he has stated the U.S. doesn’t make enough munitions to sustain the level of assistance sent to Kyiv. Vance has also pushed for engagement with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the past for “America’s interests.”

“Let Mr. Vance read up on the history of the Second World War, when a country was forced to give part of its territory to one particular person,” Zelensky said, according to The New Yorker. “What did that man do? Was he appeased or did he deal a devastating blow to the continent of Europe — to many nations, broadly, and to the Jewish nation in particular? Let him do some reading.”
