Yeah, that article reminds me of the scene from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" where the Greek dad character claims that every word in the world has the root in Greek language including 'kimono' ("Kimono comes from the Greek word cheimonas that means winter and what do you wear in the winter time to stay warm? A robe.")

Meaning that Greeks got carried away with their pride where they think they invented everything and thus decided they were also in America.

Who Owns ‘Telepathy’?

Elon Musk’s neural implant startup Neuralink has been trying to trademark two product names: Telepathy and Telekinesis. Musk has previously claimed that his company will be able to give people “superpowers,” so the desire to take ownership over these special abilities makes sense. Unfortunately for Neuralink, patent applications for Telepathy and Telekinesis have already been filed by a different business.

a lucid dreaming startup (who knew there was such a thing?) called Prophetic previously filed trademark applications for Telepathy in 2023 and Telekinesis last summer. Prophetic’s website, which says the company is “pioneering a radical transformation of the human experience,” is owned by a computer scientist named Wesley Berry. Berry’s company seeks to create a “non-invasive neuromodulation” wearable to “help people achieve lucid dreaming,” the site says, although there’s limited information online about how that would work.

Life on Mars? 'Leopard-spot' rocks could be biggest clue yet

The mudstones, found in a dusty riverbed by Nasa's Perseverance Rover, are dotted with intriguing markings nicknamed leopard spots and poppy seeds.

Scientists believe these features contain minerals produced by chemical reactions that could be associated with ancient Martian microbes.



"We think what we've found is evidence for a set of chemical reactions that took place in the mud that was deposited at the bottom of a lake - and those chemical reactions seem to have taken place between the mud itself and organic matter - and those two ingredients reacted to form new minerals," explained Dr Hurowitz.

In similar conditions on Earth, chemical reactions creating minerals are typically driven by microbes.

"That is one of the possible explanations for how these features came to be in these rocks," said Dr Hurowitz. "This feels like the most compelling potential biosignature detection that we've had to date."

The scientists have also examined how the minerals could have formed without microbes - and concluded that natural geological processes could also be behind the chemical reactions.

However they would require high temperatures, and the rocks don't look like they've been heated.

"We found some difficulties for the non-biological pathways - but we can't rule them out completely," Dr Hurowitz said.

24-year-old US woman has spent her whole life preparing to be the first person on Mars

A 24-year-old woman is currently preparing to become the first person on Mars.

Alyssa Carson has long been touted as a candidate for Mars exploration.

The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native says it has been her dream since she was three.

At the moment, there is a potential mission to Mars happening in 2033.

And Carson is determined to punch her ticket on the trip when it happens.

Carson, known by her NASA callsign ‘NASA Blueberry,’ is currently studying for a PhD in Astrobiology.

Carson recently made an appearance on the Flight Club Podcast.

During her appearance, Carson made her case for why being the first person on Mars is so important.

“I think that we’ve always been interested in Mars, in fact next to Earth Mars is our most studied planet… I think with the natural progression…within the space industry, Mars is kind of like our next destination.”

“Also the potential of life, especially in my area of interest within astrobiology, but the potential for life on Mars has been a huge question that we’ve had for so long.”

“But nothing can compete with the amount of information we’re able to gain once we send people to Mars.”

Getting someone across the gulf of space to Mars is an amazing idea, no doubt.

Getting people to and from Mars, however, is a completely different challenge entirely.

This reminds me that in the monumental SF novel "Red Mars" by KS Robinson, the first people arrive on Mars in 2026.

I don't see how a three-year-old could comprehend the existence of Mars, let alone have an aspiration to go there.
