That's my prediction anyway. I believe Illinois Governor Pritzker is spot-on in his belief that Trump deploying troops to liberal cities is a prelude to using them to seize ballot boxes in the 2026 mid-term elections on a claim of election fraud. He knows he will lose the House of Representatives without some kind of interference and that will prevent him from holding onto power past 2028. It will also probably result in half of his cabinet going to jail.

Assuming the powder keg which is the divided American public doesn't go off before that, that will be the event that surely sets it off. I almost wish for an early death before that.

In the video you linked, Governor Pritzker also said he believed that some Republicans in Congress will stand up to Trump. If enough judges and congressmen hold the line against Trump's authoritarianism, we still may not reach the point of an undermined election in 2026. That's my hope.

It will require lots of different efforts and lots of lawsuits, but those are already happening. As a malignant narcissist who doesn't respect other people's boundaries, Trump will always try to violate them unless they are maintained against him. In his first term, the Congress and his own administration maintained the guardrails, often at their own cost. Now it's up to the legal system, the governors, and the wider public.

Of course, it's because her adult children are facing double their premiums. It has to hit them directly for it to matter.

Mine too. Or that he dies before then. I'm not optimistic though.

Trump will certainly try to thwart a free and fair election. With a pliant SCOTUS, he may well succeed.
