Infernal ICE

Infernal ICE
WASHINGTON — The woman shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis on Wednesday was Renee Nicole Macklin Good, a 37-year-old mother of three who had recently moved to Minnesota.

She was a U.S. citizen born in Colorado and appears to never have been charged with anything involving law enforcement beyond a traffic ticket.

RE: Infernal ICE
I was listening to J.D. Vance a minute ago.

On an international level, no one really knows about what the Trump administrations next target is going to be. The US withdrawing from 60 or so UN organization or the refusal to leave these 57,000 Greenlander at peace with their ice and polar bears are really confusing to all of us and are sparking all sorts of debates and speculations.

But on a national level, I think I know what he is doing. He is simply using the already existing culture of gun violence in the US to try to impress his own base (“See everyone will respect federal authorities because of me”) and those who are not is base by provoking them by defending an ICE agent who clearly made a fatal error there if not a voluntary homicide of a 37 year of (US citizen) woman.

So don’t be impressed. This is simply a typical populist politician making moves to polarize society even more so that he can get even more votes in November.

This assumes that Trump knows what Trump is doing, and there's precious little evidence that's the case.

The victim is a blonde-haired, blue-eyed mother of three. An all-American girl that you could easily imagine having been a cheerleader. It's unmistakably an American that's dead this time, and even the howling pack that are his supporters get nervous when they start killing their own.

The stupidity of the misAdministration lies in not understanding what happens when you remove the legal remedies, or at least the fiction of them. I would not want to be an ICE agent in the coming weeks.

RE: Infernal ICE
Looks like ICE is now cracking down on … Native Americans.

Quote:Oglala tribal leaders respond to reports of tribal members detained by ICE

A statement from the office of President Frank Star Comes out of the Oglala Sioux Tribe says he is aware of reports of the detainment of four Oglala tribal members by ICE in Minneapolis.

In the report, an Oglala bystander was able to get their tribal identities, but unable to get their names.

In his statement, President Star Comes Out writes “All Native people born within the territorial limits of the United States are recognized as US citizens by birth. Because I am both a tribal citizen and a US citizen, ICE has no lawful authority to detain me.”

Further, Star Comes Out writes that treaties confirm the inherent sovereignty of Native tribes and a nation-to-nation relationship with the US government. He advises tribal members, if detained, not speak to ICE agents without an attorney present.

In another statement, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Chairman Steve Sitting Bear writes “Our nation is a sovereign government, and our members are not immigrants. We are not subject to immigration enforcement on our own lands.”

He goes on to say that ICE activity is not welcome or authorized on the lands of the Standing Rock Reservation, and that unauthorized personnel will be escorted from the reservation.

He advises tribal members always carry their tribal identification cards, which confirms both the citizenship and political status of the carrier.

Which reminds me of this news from a month ago

Quote:A Native American actor known for her role in Northern Exposure has said she was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Seattle, Washington, who told her that her tribal identification “looked fake”.

Elaine Miles, an Indigenous actor, alleges that she was stopped by four masked men while she was walking to a bus stop in Redmond. She offered them her ID card from the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Oregon but was told by an ICE agent that “anyone can make that.”

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

They detained Marilyn Whirlwind?? The nerve. More to the point, why would a well-known Native American bother to make a phony ID card identifying her as a Native American?

RE: Infernal ICE
I can only assume that even the most famous indigenous actors are fairly obscure, especially to racist thugs like ICE.

You think they would have recognized a more recent actor, like Zahn McClarnon? I don’t.
