The Roosevelts

RE: The Roosevelts
Teddy Roosevelt was the man. While campaigning, he was shot square in the chest before a speech. The bullet was slowed down by the massive amount of shit he kept in his front pocket, but he had a bullet in him, nonetheless. What did he do? He gave the speech with a fucking bullet in him. Do you think any of our more recent pussy presidents would have done that? No. They would have cried like babies and then declared war on some group with which the shooter had very loose ties.

Oh, and Teddy's wound was a flesh wound, but the bullet was in him, which counts as pretty fucking painful if you ask me.

Hell yeah. I just admire the sheer tenacity in him. That guy lived balls out.

But can you imagine in this day and age someone who lived that way? We're so PC.

Thank you, Shell, btw, for helping this become sensible again. Big Grin

Well, I have to say that history interests me more than vague sexual innuendo. Now, if there was sexual stuff going on around me in the real world, I would be completely disinterested in this thread. Smile

As much as I love Teddy, Abe is still my favorite president. I know it is cliche, but he was so fucking human! There was nothing larger than life about him. He got shit done, big shit, but he was terrified the whole time. He knew how much of an impact his presidency would have on the country. Poor thing lost a hell of a lot of kids while he was in office too. I just love him for being an everyday guy just trying to do the right thing.

Have you seen the hysterical spoof book/movie about him being a vampire hunter? I'm waiting for that.

But for now, I'm dancing myself out to Sinatra to get a good NY-style slice. Big Grin [blows kiss]

I give up. If you must be dirty, do it amongst yourselves. I shall remove myself.

Of course not. We're used to paying extra for that.

Teddy Roosevelt was one of the few great republican presidents... Lincoln and Eisenhower come to mind, also. He looked around and saw what the concentration of wealth and power in the hands of big business was doing to the country and moved against the republicolibertarianazis of his day.

We desperately need someone like him now.
