Hi guys, I'm new! My name's Cherilyn and I'm 20 years old. I'm really happy I found this forum. I've been an atheist since the beginning of high school, maybe a little before. I don't really know what made me become an atheist. I was raised methodist but my parents didn't put much emphasis on religion... they dropped us off at church/sunday school every sunday and that was it. Once I got older I realized hey, when I pray my prayers go unanswered... somewhere along the line I must have realized that it was because God was a mythical creature and did not exist. Then of course I started doing research and taking humanities courses in college which just further confirmed my non belief. I also suspect my dad might be an atheist but he doesnt really admit it. At the very least is he believes in God but no religion because we often talk about everything thats wrong with religion.

I live with my extremely religious aunt which makes for some interesting debate... usually I just ignore her because she is an extremely close minded theist and you know throws out the usual answers of 'free will' and 'god gives you what you need', ect. ect. The worst is she watched Shepards Chapel Bible Study every morning when I'm getting ready for school... if any atheists want a laugh, thats about all its good for!!

What I like about this website is that we all get to learn from each other as well and share and discuss lots of theories or ideas freely.
