I wouldn't say unusually, it is a fairly frequent occurence

Though I must avoid naughty thoughts at night, being single has it's down side you know. Can't get to sleep when turned on.
So I must resist!

I am all for equality, but I am more for individual happiness. Some families find that the ship runs better if one person handles the home like a business while the other makes money. I confess that sometimes I imagine that is how marriages should be. I think that is only because I have dated wildly inefficient men when it comes to housework and have found myself in the position of working full-time and managing all household matters. If it is going to be equal, it has to be equal.

I do what I want, they do what they want, and if I need someone to clean my house there are maids that are paid to do that.

Yeah, but only if they pay for the maids. I can't stand a fucking mess and I hate cleaning up after adults. Sure, they can do whatever they want, but if I have to live with them, there are certain criteria for me. I'm not that picky. I am just a realist. I can't live with someone who disgusts me. If the sex is really great, I just won't live with them and I will make them take their belongings home with them when they visit.

Funny thought.. After 3 days of moving my ex-roomie to her new apartment and my next roomie in with me, assembling my bf's tv-table while he was peeling potatoes didn't seem like such a big deal. It just made me think, is it ok for a dude to make a "sammy", when the girl is doing something considered to be manly stuff?

Only if the difficulty of labor is accorded to the person who can do it best. But that's just pragmatism.

After all these years, have the gender roles changed; or are they still the same? Am I the only girl that has played with Lego robots sometime in the past?

Gender roles have changed, yes. A casual look at the fifties, sixties and seventies can easily reveal a shift in gender roles from a legitimized near-shackled existence into one where women could wear pants and work (obviously under the original conditions that they look sexy -- those no doubt are rescinded now ).

But my sisters didn't play with my Lego Mindstorms. Or learn system administration.

Yet one went on to work for the government and the other is becoming a research physicist.

A casual look at the fifties, sixties and seventies can easily reveal a shift in gender roles from a legitimized near-shackled existence into one where women could wear pants and work (obviously under the original conditions that they look sexy -- those no doubt are rescinded now ).

There you have it everyone... the only gender role still in existence is that women still need to look sexy (of course to better mindcontrol the men).

When I was young, a long, long time ago, virtually all dentists were men and I suffered greatly at their hands.
Consequently, I grew older with a great fear of dentists and would only go if in any extreme pain.
Last week I plucked up the courage to go to the local dental surgery for some much needed work on my gnashers and the young woman who treated me was excellent and I didn't feel a thing. Interestingly, when I warned her that I wasn't a very good patient because of my past experiences, she told me not to worry because it was a common tale by my generation. I didn't feel as much of a wimp as a result!
So if dentistry is any guide, I'm all in favour of changing gender roles.
Mind you, when I take my car in for work, I don't think I've ever come across a female spannerer!

Funny you should mention that, I'm a Heavy Diesel mechanic( 60litre V16's and the like)

And where I work we have 3 or 4 girls on the spanners. Yes, they are qualifed mechanics too.
