Kiva: go atheists !

Kiva: go atheists !
http://www.kiva.org/community

For the many who do not know, Kiva is basically a microfinance-oriented website that takes loans from, well, anyone, and redistributes it to entrepreneurs all over the world, mostly in developping countries. The loan, when repaid by the entrepreneur, is re-loaned, meaning that Kiva constantly grows. An interesting fact is that their repayment rate is over 98%, which surprised me.

Another interesting fact is that the biggest organized group that donates to Kiva is Kiva's atheist, agnostics and skeptics organization, with over 4 million dollars of loans or re-loans. And the second biggest donor is Kiva Christians, which over 2.5 million dollars.

It's just heart-warming to see that those idiotic stereotypes about atheists not caring for their fellow man is as wrong as expected Smile

This entire organization has only a few million dollars?

My gods but they are poor. Sad
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day

"In life you can never be too kind or too fair; everyone you meet is carrying a heavy load. When you go through your day expressing kindness and courtesy to all you meet, you leave behind a feeling of warmth and good cheer, and you help alleviate the burdens everyone is struggling with."
