I didn't know what it was either until I googled it.
Overseas experience (OE) is a New Zealand term for an extended overseas working holiday. Sometimes referred to as "The big OE" in reference to the extended duration of the travel - typically at least one year, and often extending far longer. It is believed to have been coined by New Zealand cartoonist and columnist Tom Scott.

Used to have a Celestron Newtonian. Gift from the wife before she was the wife. Duaghters relieved me of that late last year.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. Oro - we've been talking about having a meet up on the travel thread and I've been pushing for somewhere around KY, since it seems to be in the center for the majority of us. Care to join? Can I come bother you in Louisville, since my great-uncle is there anyway?

Absolutely. Just pm me whenever you think it is a go, and I can give you the info you need. Sometime in the first two weeks of most any month is good for me. The last two weeks are almost always a bad time. If it is astronomy you want to do, the first week of the month is almost always the best time.

Thanks.
If everyone comes to the observatory, you will find out. It's just the equipment and exposures I used to take the photos. We post those so other amateurs can reference them and use them to get similar results, should they want/need to.

With the right dovetail mounts, it would have fit right on my mount. Was it a 6 inch, an 8 " or something else?
Celstron makes decent Newtonians, but their real forte is theSchmidt Cassegrain -
If money was not an issue for me, this is what I'd own:

Like I said, if money was not the issue.

It really is a masterpiece. Not as awesome as their larger selections, but for the size, it is a real work horse.
Here is an image from just such a scope to show what it can accomplish:
Crap. It runed out so large that I can't access the edit button. Here is another that is from the same system that is smaller.

Yet another atrophoto
August 18, 2011 at 10:41 am
Here is a reprocessed and cropped photo I took of the globular cluster Messier 13 on 04/06/2011. If you download this image, and then zoom in and scan around the image, you might find a bunch of very faint galaxies. I didn't realize that there were so many in this region, otherwise I would have taken many more exposures of this object in order to bring them out where you can see them more clearly. I will have to try this next time I get the chance (probably next year). Also notice all the very pretty blue stars. I love this cluster.

See, I love the pictures, but being able to look for yourself, that's what I miss. I need to hurry up the replacement program..lol. I've kept myself placated with a virtual observatory program for the pc here, which I spend hours clicking, rotating, moving back in time. I like to check out the sky on dates that held meaning to me..lol. It's just points of light on a black background, I fill the rest in from memory (and imagination)
