RE: Introducing Rayaan: Moderator.

Thanks for the kind welcome, everyone. I think you guys are a great bunch of people to hang out with.
Now, I'm going to make a list of some of the things that I want to say:
1. I'm pretty sure that I'm not the best Muslim ever. I'm just a fairly good Muslim, IMO. Sorry, Void, but I'm afraid that you're wrong about me.
2. As a moderator, I hope that I can do justice to my position by being a fair, balanced, and a fun moderator. I know it's not going to be that easy, but I'll try, at least. I don't think this is going to be too hard for me either. My job is to do exactly what the other mods and admins are doing. And I'm going to slowly check out the modding functions and all that stuff.
3. Of course, I will not make all the decisions by myself. Most of the time, it is better to ask for the opinions of the other mods/admins before taking an action. So I'll be doing that.
4. I do have an experience in modding another forum (an Islamic forum) for one-and-a-half years, and I'm still a member of the staff, but since the time that I joined this forum, I started to feel less interested to post there as the time went by. The reason is not that my faith in Islam has become weaker. It's still the same. Rather, the reason that I spend more time in AF than in Islamic forums is because I like to learn about different perspectives and opposing views. Also, I like the scientific and philosophical discussions in this forum. There are many other things that I like about this forum. So, that's why this forum gets most of my attention than any other forum.
5. I don't think this is a problem, or even necessary, but the thing is that I don't have the level of technical knowledge to work with codes, bugs, theme integration, and all those kinds of advanced stuff about the forum as do Adrian, theVOID, Synackaon, and Darwinian, for example. So, I'm not as nerdy as they are.
I just know the simple things like how to deal with members and their posts like Shell_B and thesummerqueen.
6. Kichi, you said that you saw this thread posted on your Facebook. Well, that's fine. But I just wanted to say that I don't have an account in Facebook, Twitter, Google plus, or any other social networking website. I don't feel a great deal of interest in using them actually. So, if any of the members (or the staff members) want to tell me something privately, then do so through the PM system.
7. Some of you may not be happy with me as a moderator (since I'm a Muslim) - and some of you might even be a little envious about it (lol) - but I'm actually okay with that. Why? Because it's just a feeling and maybe it's one of those things that you can't help it. Everyone has their own feelings about other people or a certain individual and I'm willing to accept the way it is (i.e. their opinions about someone). But, I think most of you will like me.
8. I don't know how long I'm going to remain a mod: Maybe for 3 months, or maybe 5 months, or maybe 1 year, or maybe even 2 years (which I highly doubt), or maybe just a few weeks, but I don't know for certain, because I can't predict what may or may not come to my life in the future. Afterall, I don't even know how long this forum is going to last. So, I'll just use the opportunity that I have right now and do whatever that I'm supposed to do as a member of the staff.
9. I'm a little sad that Adrian is stepping down but, at the same time, I'm also happy because he said that he's going to stick around the forum as much as he can. However, stepping down was his own decision and I hope that what he did is best for himself.
10. I appreciate the decision of the staff members who supported me in becoming a mod. Of course, there may be someone else who is capable of moderating the forum better than I can. I don't know who it is. However, I understand that the staff probably wanted to have a 'balance' in the team and that's why they chose a theist. So, thanks for trusting me at least for a job like this in an atheist forum.
