Where's the number between 1.9r and 1? And if, indeed, there isn't one, why can't it be accepted as 1 represented in decimal just as 5/5 is accepted as also representing 1 but in fractions?

It's fine leo. I have Saerules and apparently fr0d0 to argue with still. Some people are better at others at dropping pre-conceptions concerning mathematics; it's only counter-intuitive because we've been taught from a young age that one decimal number cannot possibly equal another unless they contain the same digits in the same order. This is the unfortunate mistruth which causes the majority of problems when teaching 0.9r = 1 to students usually.
