[split] 0.999... equals 1

Mine was saying EVF kept saying MERELY because there is no number between them,x=y. The logic is flawed if you do not specify other conditions.
BTW, ihave multiplied 0.9r with numbers 1-9 and it all turns out correct, as in 0.9r x 2 = 1.9r etc. Further cementing 0.9r =1
The fact there logically can't be a number in-between 9.r and 1 is not logically flawed. As I said, this doesn't apply to all numbers. There are many numbers between 5 and 6, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, etc, and all in-between.

Calculators LIE!!! LOL
I found a prove 0.999.... is not equal to 1!
0.9999.... squared =0.8...... Hence it cannot equal 1 since 1 squared is 1 ! EVF, read my originalpost. I said discrete number system, meaning no decimals.
We are not talking about discrete number systems, as Adrian clarified for you. We are talking about all real numbers... and that includes decimal numbers.
I mean, we're even using 0.9r, of course...which is a decimal. EvF
0.9999.... squared is in fact =0.89999..... so how can it equal 1
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 0.8999... 0.9? And not 0.9...?
EvF
How do you do that sum? 0.9...² ?
How do you get a calculator to display 0.9... ?
You'd need an infinitely long calculator!
