Hi everyone
My name is Yonas and I live in Ontario, Canada. I was raised Christian and strongly believed in God until I started asking questions when I was around 16 years old (12 years ago). Neither my fiends, parents, or pastor could answer my questions, and I quickly learned no one could.

Long story short, I'm thankful for taking away some of the good things, like lessons on love and respect, and extremely glad to be done with all the rest of it.

Fast forward to today, I thought I would be happy to leave religion as someone else's problem, but it's become clear to me that religion is more than a nuance. It's like an affliction on the world. With all of it's potential for peace, people have countless times abused it for their own purposes, often justifying murder, war, and genocide.

A few days ago I had a thought: What exactly, in dollar figures, is the cost of religious tolerance on the global economy?

Do the benefits out-weight the negatives?

Being a web developer, I quickly threw up a site, http://ReligionEconomics.com, to see if this question could be answered and displayed as a graph.

If this is something you'd like to see, or if you'd like to share your thoughts on this issue, say hello on the forum:

This is really the first time I've discussed being an atheist out in the open and I'm really happy to be joining the discussion here Smile

Cheers!

RE: Hi everyone
Welcome fizk. I hope you like it here. I suppose the cost of religious intolerance is higher than the cost of religious tolerance.

Hey there! Welcome to AF! ^_^
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
