But you can live a normal life with little or no thought about sex, or sexual feelings, for sure. I've also done this at times in my life. I was trying to turn that energy to other uses, and was able to really see female sexuality as breeding monkey reflex, and to look at it analytically from the third person, and not let myself get inside it.
That is repressing your sex drive. You still have a sex drive you're just sublimating it. EP claimed it's possible to "become an asexual" out of an act of will. It's not.
I dunno, man. At times when I've been distracted, and I mean 100% distracted, I've lost all thought/desire for sex for weeks at a time. It wasn't repression, it was focus. I can say that during intense exam times, or when I'm deeply engrossed in programming or philosophy, I can definitely become an asexual person. It's not really an act of will-- it's really just that the biology gives way to the psychology of focus.
The rest of you can call it repression or whatever, but I have personal experience with this, and the way EP talks about it is more right than the way people are refusing to accept it.
