I think the vast majority of us show at least some polite restraint when it comes to the religious. However it seems apparent to me at least that you knew beforehand that someone would be an ass in regards to Islam especially. As Paul said, thicken your skin a bit and roll with it and i'm sure you'll come to enjoy posting if you decide to stay. The great difference between us nonbelievers and believers is that we tend to get along regardless because the subtle differences in what we believe, or do not for that matter, really don't amount to very much. We believe in people, which is what the vast majority of theists do not believe in. So I'm okay with having an adult conversation with you or anyone for that matter, in spite of my complete disdain for what theists believe. My best friend in the world is a pentecostal preacher, while he's served as practice for my debates over the years, we have a friendship that exists beyond ideological, existential, or even political beliefs. We aren't all sharks, however if you attempt to preach to any of us, you should be prepared to be dismantled. One thing atheists such as myself takes a considerable amount of pride in is our knowledge of religions, far beyond what the average believer tends to immerse themselves in. Most people don't want to know anything more than what is taught at a church service. However if they would actually take the time to read the history of what they believe, they would most definately lose faith.

"In our youth, we lacked the maturity, the decency to create gods better than ourselves so that we might have something to aspire to. Instead we are left with a host of deities who were violent, narcissistic, vengeful bullies who reflected our own values. Our gods could have been anything we could imagine, and all we were capable of manifesting were gods who shared the worst of our natures."-Me
"Atheism leaves a man to sense, to philosophy, to natural piety, to laws, to reputation; all of which may be guides to an outward moral virtue, even if religion vanished; but religious superstition dismounts all these and erects an absolute monarchy in the minds of men." – Francis Bacon
