This is Vista all over again, and frankly it's due to one tiny change that they dug their heels in to keep: removing the Start Menu. When desktop users pointed out what a horrible move it was, MS brought back the button, but not the menu. It's almost as if they were rubbing everyone's noses in it. The most ridiculous part is that the code for the menu is in Windows 8. MS simply decided that fuck you, you were going to use their new interface whether you liked it or not.
Apparently they finally realized that this is no longer the fucking 90s and they're not in the same entrenched position they were in back then, so they decided to compromise. Not by returning the goddamned Start menu in Windows 8, but by rolling out a whole new operating system just to fix one fucking thing that could've been fixed with a patch. Assholes.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
