You'll rarely get the atheists here to agree positively with any idea. If you ask, "Do you have an active believe in the existence of a spirit or of a soul?" I think you'll find that almost zero percent here will answer "yes."
I hope you aren't implying that that is a negative thing.
The default position on any claim that is unsupported by evidence and reasoned argument should be to withhold belief.
If one cares whether their beliefs are true, or at least likely to be true, that is.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
