My "work" boots - in the garden - looked something like this:

But without the extraneous ornamentation around the top. They were $30, lasted 4 years of snow, sleet, ice, mud, rock, jeeping, sex and a couple nights of hard drinking I can't remember (and several I wish I could forget).

$220 for a pair of Nike shoes you will never run in is not only so balls stupid it boggles my mind, it's irresponsible, selfish and leaves you entirely undeserving of a shred of respect.

Summer: GREAT boots.I want a pair. Do they make them for men? Brand name? $30? When? Where? Are they leather?

They look like a cross between Doc Martin's and US army GP (general purpose) boots of happy memory.

PS they are laced incorrectly. Tiger

They came out of a teeny bopper store - go with the Docs. I haven't found a replacement yet.
Also, I don't know what "correct" lacing is - they were on, I zipped up the side zippers, and I wrecked havoc. What's the correct lacing? And what does it mean/matter? Is that an army thing? My dad would tell you right quick how much military aesthetics matter to me. He gave me a certain amount of the Ranger "Fuck you guys, step aside, I'll get this shit done CORRECTLY," but other than that...

The $220 sneaker....

I don't know how useful they would be.

Quote:Kevin Melgarejo, 15, of Queens, said they were worth the wait at a W. 33rd St. Foot Locker because there are a limited number and they glow in the dark.

This could give your position away when you are running away from knocking over a convenience store.

Glow in the dark shoes and anklepants might be responsible for the increase in certain segments of our prison population.

Well in parts of New York (at least) a pair of those will get you killed by a mugger with just as little taste. I think that is enormously useful in skimming some of the pond scum off the top of the gene pool.

The best choices are Carhardt and redwing. When you walk into the store, you have to demand that you want 100% american and union made. The stuff will be quite expensive (but nowhere near as bad as those sweatshop nike hunks of shit), but will last you several years. An American made Carhart can easily last me 15 years of heavy industrial work. Redwing boots usually last me 5 years of heavy industrial work. Not to mention they look fantastic and are quite utilitarian:

Steel toed armor. I have a pair of these and they are fan-fucking-tastic.

Carhartt Bibs, Heavy artic insulation. These bibs are all out fucking excellent. they keep you warm and they organize your tools. Me and my wife both have a set of these.

I have one of these coats. Best damn coats on the market. I brushed up against a mangled hunk of building steel with one of these on and it STILL didnt rip.

If you want quality... thats what you go for.
