Why do Athiests require 'proof' that God exists?

Why would god have a better vantage point, a vantage point from which it could see past the illusion? Try to "explain" that without resorting to any statement or claims of knowledge, which I will remind you, are an illusion (as you are an illusion, and as this post is an illusion).

The nature of omniscience is that to have it one must know everything there is to know. You can't comprehend his knowledge or how he experiences it.

Then how can you claim to know that?

Waffles JL, blueberry waffles.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Because that's the definition. So if an all knowing being existed he would have to know everything.

I'm not sure how you'd go about determining whether something is possible when it's an unknown. Weak atheism is another term for agnostic atheist. Atheism means someone lacks a belief in god(s). Agnosticism (as it relates to atheism) means one doesn't know whether god(s) exist or not. You don't need to accept something is possible or impossible in order not to know whether it exists. Indeed, you can't if you're an agnostic because you don't know whether any god(s) exist or have ever existed and hence can't know anything regarding possible existence or non-existence.

For another thing that bothers me: what is the definition of a god? Without a definition, all you have to come with JL, is your own personal opinion and that makes this a lot harder to talk about.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Definitions? You've invoked utter solipsism, wtf is a definition? Sounds like some illusory concept which you cannot prove.

OK everyone, time to call it a day Smile

First I'd like to thank you all for your time, it's nice to have Atheists take a debate seriously and not just hate on Jesus.

Secondly I'd like to say that we have digressed and that my original point seems to have been missed. My point was that it was unfair to dismiss the possibility that God/Gods exist due to a lack of evidence. After all I have no 'evidence' that any of you exist yet I still believe that you do. So my argument is in support of agnosticism, that it is unwise to dismiss the possibility that God exists.

I'm sure most of you agree that 'hard' atheism is just as ridiculous as any religion. To claim you are 100% certain something doesn't exist when you have such limited knowledge of the universe is illogical.

Thanks once again, keep learning and developing your ideas!
