Is there a specific fallacy that says that appealing to the age of the person putting forth the argument is invalid? If not, there needs to be one.

Hmm. My guess would be that such an appeal would be an example of the genetic fallacy. The notion that a person's argument is invalid because of [some fact about the person making the argument] is a fallacy.

A T, I genuinely try to refrain from blasting you. The few times we have not argued about politics or religion, we get along fairly well [the discussion on WWII aviation, for example]. But...c'mon, man, you're starting to play the butt-hurt conservative thing a bit too hard. I hate to use a sound-bit, but... "We survived 8 years under Bush, you'll damn well survive 8 years under Obama."

I'm not saying Obama is perfect or anything. He's not. I have a LOT to criticize him for; his persecution of medical marijuana users, his continuation of the war on drugs, his stance on NDAA, his constant attempts to extend the olive branch to the republicans who clearly have no interest in doing anything more than slapping it away so they can scream that it's been trampled on, his refusal to shut down Guantanamo Bay, and his inaction on taxes; he needs to raise them already. Middle and lower class, no, but upper class, yes. The only person who should ever be defending tax cuts for the rich are the rich themselves; if you don't make $250k a year, you literally have no business in defending lowered taxes on those who do.

See, all these things I, as a libertarian-socialist [may sound rather contradictive, but it's as close as I can get to accurately describing my varied stances] can openly criticize about him about because we don't think he's perfect, because he isn't.

However, this is in stark contrast to the republican party which INSISTS it's their way or the hellway. That's right, according to every single republican, the republican party can, right now, do no wrong! In fact, THEY can do BETTER! But when asked WHAT they can do better, I get nothing but half-answers, unsatisfactory idealism, or ideas that are just straight-up disastrous if they were to be put into practice.

*Chuckles* It's a matter of questioning everything. I may have helped vote the man in...but by some weird notion I keep coming under the delusion that since I helped give the man a job, I feel he should do what I ask of him now. Especially when my voice is joined by thousands.

But, he's also done good. The Obamacare thing? I think it's a good start. He ended the shit in Iraq [which unfortunately cost us a looot of money; drawing down a conflict costs a ton of money for many, many reasons], he got the US navy to secure international waters against Somalian pirates, he's been trying to balance the wealth disparity gap, and he at least had the sense to not let the taxes raise on the middle and lower class during a really shitty recession. And, hell, the job economy has been recovering slowly but surely. I doubt it'd be realistic to expect it'd jump from "shit" to "fantastic" over a year or even two. I suspect if we have a REALLY amazing president next term for 8 years...we still won't see the unemployment return to normal by the end of it, even if Obama had been perfect, same thing. Too much shit got broken under Bush. Gonna take a lot of fixing.
