There's a difference between discussion and preaching though, and that's what I've meant all along. strodel preaches, even though he's been told not to. Even though people have tried to have discussion with him. He pops into threads that don't require it to demonstrate how 'amazing' he is. That's an asshole move if you were an atheist or a theist.

We have plenty of theists who have been on this board who never preached. They had legit discussion. I enjoyed all of their presences. I even struggled to keep a few of them here when they tried to ragequit. I even defended one of our more in-group minded members who seems to have left - mehmet - when he was getting railed on for things he didn't deserve. If you're here for discussion or to ask questions, then we let you stay. Sometimes (well, most of the time) we fuck with you. That's this forum - it'll happen no matter what belief structure you're under. Sometimes you're wrong about something and we correct you. If you act like a twat about it, then it gets ugly. If you're down with the correction but need clarification, no one has a problem being 'normal' and explaining it, or even adjusting their views about it.

I prefer getting "punished" with spankings on my ass than having someone perform THOSE sorts of duties due to my smartassery.

Well this is by far is the best forum I've been to, the most open to other people, and the friendliest I've been too. It's just it can always be better (less insults, more niceness).

Some people don't deserve respect.

But for the most part, we don't know that. We judge people different to us, as "twisted". People against us, as enemy/evil. etc..

I can only speak for myself (but I guess I'm not the only one), who will always respect others, because they're fellow human beings. Everything they do that I consider good, makes the respect I have for him/her increase, but if I don't get along with him/her at all, I still recognize his/her worth as a human. This does not mean that I have respect for people's e.g. religions.

He is of course fighting for his pride here.

Quite an oxymoron, since he's one of the most proud persons I've come across, who thinks himself humble.

I sympathise because as a child, if someone insulted me, I would fight for my pride.

But you grew out of it. Having your pride wounded is childish and not fit for adults.

In his case, it maybe due to mental illness. It's often people with mental illness feel they should be leaders and enlighten people, and know more then people in general.

Try to tell him that. I assure you that a shitstorm will ensue.

I don't care much whether a person here is being an asshole or a bigot, as long as they're at least somewhat interesting. If your entire shtick is to fluff your own ego while pretending to know the motivations of others, and you don't actually bring anything interesting to the table, I'm not going to take you seriously. I don't care if it makes me an asshole, because I'm not really concerned with whether some self-absorbed nutcase with a jesus complex likes what I have to say.
