Conflicting statements in the bible

My morals are based on my societal norms which means that, to me, it would be morally wrong to rape and murder anyone, regardless of society.

From their point of view, yes.

You find this stance deplorable because of your own societal morals. I daresay that you would find their methods perfectly acceptable had you grown up in that society.

Where do they stone homosexuals in the Middle East? I've been there and I have no idea what you're talking about.

Yeah, Stat made a minor error. Homosexuals are put to death by hanging, not stoning.

Even then it's only Iran. No other country has homosexuality as a criminal offence. Being a homosexual in and of itself is not a crime (in fact there are quite a bit of homosexuals in all Muslim countries), but engaging in sodomy is a capital offense in Saudi Arabia, punishable by public beheading, not hanging. And other Middle Eastern countries don't even punish that.

Pretty much sums up the point about morality and its relations to society: http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes....l-research

You are right. Public beheading is wwwwaaaaaayyyyy better than hanging or stoning. So sorry about getting that little MORAL point incorrect.

This is not about what's better or worse, this is about the facts, something apparently you don't care about. These are the facts:

1. Homosexuality is not a criminal offence anywhere in the Mid-east apart from Iran.
2. Homosexuality is not punishable by stoning anywhere in the Mid-east.
3. Homosexuality is punishable by hanging in Iran.
4. Sodomy is punishable by public heading in Saudi Arabia.

You must have mistaken me for someone who gives a shit.

My initial statement was that these activities are morally acceptable in those cultures. Who really gives a fuck about the details of where and how??

But obviously you do give a shit, otherwise;

a) you wouldn't have responded and
b) you wouldn't have apologized for getting it wrong.

The question really is; who gives a shit about your initial statement? Especially now that you don't care about the facts, that's not a very productive debate is it? Chucking in false statements here, there and everywhere.

You really should learn how to use an internet search engine before making ridiculous statements.

I already know how to use it but alas, I don't need it. I've been to quite a few countries in the Mid-east, I've even been to the execution squares of KSA and questioned many people over there, so I kinda know what I'm talking about thank you very much Smile
