I grew up in Fountain City, went to Central High School. I know exactly where you guys lived, I was in the heating and cooling business for years and traveled all over, west Knoxville, Tellico Plains, Morristown and many other places. I now live in Sevier County home of Dolly Parton and The great Smokey Mountians.

That's so funny, GC. What are the odds?

It reminds me of when I was little. We moved around a lot (seven states before TN where we settled for years) due to my dad's job. We lived in Mass for a year or so and my parents played bridge with a group of people once a week. After that, we moved to Ohio for, literally, a few months and then to Anaheim, CA. My parents enrolled me in the local elementary school, and went to their first PTA meeting where my mom looked down the row of parents, and there were my parents' bridge partners! They had just enrolled their son into my class. So weird. We ended up sharing a nanny for the year and a half we lived there.

PS many summers were spent at Dollywood. It seemed I always had a friend with an older sibling working there Smile

Bald River Falls at the Tellico River is probably my single favorite spot on the planet.

Tellico is very beautiful, and I loved to kayak before hurting my back, not sure I could have gone to that extreme.

As big as the world is, it can seem fairly small at times. East Tennessee has a great diversity in jobs and the university here has helped in that, so I guess Knoxville is a destination for many in their lives, I had several chances to leave and actually turned down some good jobs to stay here, I'm glad I did it's really nice to have one place to call home. I do wish I had visited much more of the country when I was younger, we go out west every few years, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana, Utah and Idaho, I really love Montana and could move there if I was younger.
Dollywood is not my thing, never even been, love the outdoors and the peace and quite it brings.

Ever tried it without the sugar, it takes some getting a taste for, but once you do in is quite good, a little lemon or lime helps.

East Tennessee is absolutely gorgeous. Unlike GC, though, I never really care to go back. I fell out with my best friend years ago, and both my dad and my grandmother are gone, so there's really no reason. Honestly, no offense to GC, I can't stand the majority of the people.

Sorry you found the people unpleasant, out of curiosity why?
