Happy Blasphemy Day! :D

RE: Happy Blasphemy Day! :D
I mostly know Rhiz because an x Muslim cleric said so and offered reasoning for it (verbally and I couldn't repeat it).

@ Leo: some people simply use the name to replace God - but for the reasons linked his attributes from Islam are quite different. Why do you say he's the same?

They are both just gods I don't believe in. Your god is no different from any of the gods on that list I pasted. If you want to argue that your god is anything else, you will need more than some assertions on what God is or does. He may be different to you, but to me it is like saying pixies are different from fairies.

But pixies ARE different from fairies! I mean on the one hand you have pixies which can use their dust to make people fly when they think happy thoughts and on the other you have fairies that are represented at comicons all over the world. DUH! Wink

Also one chip equals three bisquits! Don't forget that.

The Islamic God is very different to the Christian God.

But no evidence for either, so realistically how can we conclude that there's any reason to believe, any one of them? At least from my point of view. I have seen no magic evidence. You claim to though, well you may not call it magic evidence, but you know - it's revealed to you somehow, through the Bible, etc? Correct me if I'm wrong (according to you).

The Koran [and yes i have read most of it] recognizes Jesus as just another prophet, and he is the second most important prophet in Islam, the first most important being Mohammed of course. They believe the christians had it right until they started focusing on the prophet jesus and on other prophets/saints. This is why there are no pictures of Islam's important people in the mosques, just landscapes and things like that. Allah is the same as the Christian and Jewish god, but with a more recent book atached, 'allah' is just the arabic word for god. Yahweh, the Jewish version of god has the old testament, the christian version tacks on the new testament after that, and the islamic version of god just tacks on their more recent holy scriptures, and their prophet mohammed. The Koran interprets god diferently from the old testament and new testament, but also reminds of the fact that its the same god. Islam, Judaism and Christianity all look at the same god, but its like a department store mirror, each religion sees a different angle.

Islam is nicer though I think, first of all because of their emphasis on personal clenliness, and they who invented Islam were more advanced than the rest of the world at the time. Facing east in order to pray toward Mecca is an example of this, as they knew the world was round, and you would eventually hit Mecca if you walked long enough; they also invented algebra.
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

See - Rhiz gets it!

@ Evie: Magic evidence? Me? No.. good old fashioned thinking ma boi. Look for it and it's there, seeketheth and thou shaleth findethetheth.

@TBF: Well I totally disagree with that (as I've reasoned above). Allah has qualities significantly different to the Christian God. I know of Christians that have studied it and call Allah another god. The Judaic God is the same God minus the messiah.

Islam forbids idolatry which is why the walls are crammed with texts rather than pictures of people. I agree that the Arabic world were more advanced and Christians destroyed a hell of a lot of it shamefully. Don't bring up the flat earth myth again please!

TBF,

Have you ever heard of Baha'u'llah the prophet of the Ba'hai faith? Apparently he is "the Promised One" talked about even in the Islamic faith.

I had a friend who was Ba'hai and he was awesome fun. We ate mushrooms together and tripped balls along the Multnomah Falls trail. It wasn't until later that I learned just how against the Ba'hai faith this was. Go figure huh?

Going back to this thread on blasphemy.
Hundreds of expletives are OK but what we really need is quality
in blasphemy, not quantity.
We need a one liner that is the greatest blasphemy ever penned.
Had Shakespear been an atheist he may well have been able to
create such a wonderous line for we Atheists.
I cannot think of such a line, but will give it some more Atheistic thought Wink .....

Trust me, the last thing you want is to fight me. :p

As I see it, and I am not going to bother arguing about it, Allah, God, Yahweh, all the same god in a different overcoat. If you want to believe differently go right ahead, but it is not worth my time an effort arguing about goblins and ghoulies.

I think it's fair, though, to say that the believers don't believe they're the same God. Well, some do, some don't. The truth is that those Gods are based off the same mythological origin, aka, Abraham, therefore when I want to encompass all three I say "Abrahamic" God. Yet it's fair to say that the believers believe in three distinct and different gods and that the followers of one of these beliefs may believe the others are either believing in a false god, or their god but in the wrong way.
