Not really looking to give a lot more. But everyone probably benefits some for having an opportunity to be needed/appreciated.

I get plenty of kick by being smart, eloquent, and persuasive. I can be very aggressive and combative, but most people forgive my occasional excesses and stroke me plenty. I'm well liked in my local atheist and humanist communities, and well respected. On IRC, where they see more of my cheek, I'm not always as well liked, but people there know my abilities and give me room to be who I am naturally, even if some of them call for many a wambulance. As noted before, my homies and I on IRC / chat are a cut-throat, wickedly snarky and mean-spirited bunch. It's where I can let my hair down and just let it all hang out. I have plenty of venue for finding full expression of my talents, energies, and quirks.

(ETA: And I'm finding my weekly group therapy sessions to be another place where I can let it all hang out, sharing the pains and perverse pleasures of coping with chronic mental illness with others walking the same road, and sharing the same vicious humor about it.)

I like the new you. Great

Or is it the real you?

Man that's a mess. Working on the insides of my file server computer, in a space about 9" x 12" x 12". Just counting the sata cables alone, there's 36 feet of cable in that space.

(And I think I've got one hard drive hooked up in the wrong spot [out of 13 hard drives] - oops.)

That'd be great, if we did not have to encode the data (from electricity to radio or anything) before transmitting it between peripherals. Unfortunately if we have to encode the data (because electricity will not circuit through the air), we will have to invent or reuse the TCP/IP protocol suite for a hard-drive-to-processors wireless interface including a radio device between each member. Since the hard drive can be accessed by other wireless devices, I can imagine how much more secure the hard drive would need to be as it must encode different mediums. The other thing is, the hard drive communicates using buses on the motherboard. Since we cut out direct access to the motherboard, now reading and writing are also tasks now relayed over the wireless ports. The idea seems feasible, just risky.

Wireless does not necessarily mean "via the 2.4GHz/5GHz usually known as wifi"! Wink
Many alternatives exist.... NFC, bluetooth, microwaves...

DMA would be the biggest problem...

Happy Birthday, c!

Today, I'm cleaning and doing laundry. Tonight, going to my sister's to decorate the tree.

Yes. These options are all feasible, but it comes down to each type's limitations. For instance, nfc is usually within 10 centimeter ranges, bluetooth is slower at a lower bandwidth (this is because bluetooth is minimalistic, it is limited to a 2.4GHz frequency), microwaves are radio like wifi but are more susceptible to line-of-sight absorption due to a smaller wavelength.

I just want to conclude that I have no issue with what type of wireless device is used, my only qualm is that concept of wireless itself opens up security for physical flexibility.
