The Men's Rights Movement: I Just Don't Get It.

Look, rationalman, I've heard claims here of reproductive inequality. All these claims can be solved by great long-term birth control. Condoms are terrific and I applaud you for using them, but sooner or later one will break for many people, and many committed couples want another option- if condoms were that reliable then men wouldn't be making that claim. I have presented a reliable method. I'm not calling anyone a pussy if they don't want to use it (although I think you'd like me to do that because you want to dismiss my point); I'm pointing out that sometimes a little suffering happens to achieve something you want. If YOU don't want it, FINE. This isn't about YOU.
*Edit- And I use IUDs because they are the most effective birth control for women. The Pill (along with all hormonal methods) causes problems for many women, and is often rendered ineffective by things like antibiotics. Birth control isn't a walk in the park for women, either, even with all our options.

All i'm really hearing here is: my choice of unnecessary contraception is painful and inconvenient, therefore men shouldn't complain about their possibly painful contraception method.

And just for the record, the chance of a condom breaking is very very small as demonstrated by this wonderful gif:

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House

“Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom

You can complain about it. You can try to encourage better options. But dismissing that option entirely because of pain, even though it will grant a degree of reproductive freedom, seems rather childish. You can avoid it for yourself all you want, but having a single form of male birth control on the market finally gives men a choice - and more choices are to follow as technology develops. I'm not saying lie down and deal with this one option, just don't deny it for others.

Best decision I've ever made regarding my reproductive choices. Now if only I'd done it three children earlier Thinking

A Vasectomy is often denied to younger, childless patients (although it is not impossible to find a doctor to do it, but it's difficult). That being said, I am happy you were able to take control of your reproduction :3

I hear it hurts like a motherfucker too!

I had the vas snipped before I was 30. It hurt a little (a bag of frozen corn is your friend), but not nearly as much as the boys hurt following hernia surgery! Confusedhock:

What is interesting about the doctor who performed the procedure is that neither he nor his office had any way to confirm whether or not I actually had any children yet, and his office made no investigation, nor spoke with my wife. Thinking

The worst part about the boys after the hernia surgery other than the EXTREME pain and swelling (the blood from the surgery settles there and dissipates over three weeks), was tHe CoLoRs they changed Confused Fall

TMI?

O.o I guess some doctors just don't give a fuck. And colorful balls! Well, that must have been a scary sight.

Not TMI for someone like me, I don't have a prudish bone in me body.

Never let it be said that I dismiss or avoid male viewpoints:
