What would you do?

What would you do?
If aliens predicted many events in human history and wrote em in the bible and put it on planet earth? Also they put bunch of medical and scientific knowledge in the bible which would be ahead of it's time and then they put bible in many places simultaniously so it spreads everywhere in same time.
How would you argue against christians? I mean it would be aliens fucking with us but christians would have an upper hand in debates.

It would not be god but what would you do?

Well, clearly that didn't happen in the Bible.

But I take your point. If I were presented with an ancient text which offered clear, unambiguous predictions ('In a city called "Christchuch" in a place called "New Zealand" an earthquake will cause the death of 185 people on 22 February 2011' not 'A city will suffer the wrath of God') I would be inclined to take it seriously.

I doubt, though, that I would jump to the 'goddidit' conclusion.

Well, not at first.

I never said that it happened in the bible I made a hypothetical scenario.
But what would you think then?

That's kinda like asking what would happen if I didn't love my Gwynnies. Angel

Having grown up in a generic cultural Christian environment, such would represent a fundamental change to my being, the extent of which seems essentially unknowable.

So basically it would fuck you up to the point of insanity? Or something else?

So... you know about me and my Gwynnies. Big Grin

Not exactly. Something else in that if there were actual scientific portents in scripture, the whole world would be a different place. Kinda like asking if I were born in Africa rather than America; I wouldn't really know, I'd have to do it.

I'm just throwing this out here, but if the Bible had detailed accounts of futuristic medical technology, wouldn't we have developed that medical technology once we came in contact with the bible?

As such, by the time it reached us now we'd have far superior medical technology, and we'd find the bible just as outdated as we do now. :p

Well maybe the hole event predictions would be a challenge to overcome, but I'd hope the aliens wouldn't make it too much of a running joke.
There is no God, so can we please get back to science?

AS I have noted - authors OFTEN use real places and things into which they introduce their fictional characters and events. Fact is - there is and was a Jerusalem - although it is not as old as the bible implies. There are many other real things - and truths - in the bible.

However - just because London Exists - does not remotely imply that Harry Potter - Sherlock Holmes - or Peter Pan are real. Or James Bond for that matter as well.

So - proving human events does not prove the ALL the bible - only the event in question. Same with Medical and scientific knowledge. NO matter how many real things a person puts into a fictional story - that does change the basic problem with religions - their supernatural claims are unsupported by proof.

As a member in good standing of the Baker Street Irregulars (Whangarei chapter) I must take exception to your including Sherlock Holmes among the obviously fictional characters mentioned above.

Don't let it happen again.
