An unanswerable question

RE: An unanswerable question
That might be postpartum stress disorder. I think that's what they call it when a woman goes into depression after birth.

How come in the OT whenever some asswipe claimed that god talked to them it was always taken at face value? Why, when schmucks like G-C or Drippy claim their god talks to them are they not locked up for being psychos?

The god of the bible is a miserable dick. All one need to for evidence is to read through that barbaric shit for a while. Hence, why is this woman's claims that god told her to kill her kid not an acceptable defense?

I've gotten the cowardly answer that "He wouldn't ask me to do that" a good bit, and besides defeating the point of the exercise, there's biblical precedent to the contrary. I've gotten two yeses which I remember clearly since they were horrific to me, and a fair number of "fuck off's" which really reveals their true nature more than "He wouldn't ask me to".

Supposedly the god of the old testament showed up in person. In the flesh. There are lines about sinners not being able to stand in the presence of god, but there are lines about people looking him right in the face.

Strange how those public appearances did fuck all to those guys' free will, isn't it?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

His presence obviously didn't cause them to fall in lockstep, so he just had to use force since he's more powerful. Like kidnapping and imprisoning someone instead of just going to the next guy to ask him if he wants to help.

RE: An unanswerable question
On this very forum we had the question a month or so ago: "Is it better to live in a society where slavery is illegal but homosexuality legal or the other way around?"

When I saw the question I thought it was the dumbest I had ever seen. Who on earth would choose the slavery option? Who would take more than a third of a second to come up with the answer?

Just shows what I know. Not only did we have Christians stuggling to answer the question we actually had at least one that chose the slavery legalisation option.

Religion and morality are ships that pass in the night. They have very little in common - although one claims ownership of the other in the ultimate act of hypocrisy.

That really says a lot right there. Of course that's the way it was meant to be in bible times, but many of us like to think most people in first world countries would not choose legalized slavery over legalized homosexuality. Of course these are the same people that think this life is a stopgap on the road to eternity.

RE: An unanswerable question
wow

I am embarrassed to call myself atheist at times.

would I kill my child to save the group. stupid simple answer "Yes".
let's see, would I kill a baby that may have a disease that can't be cured in 6000 BC. This sickness could wipe out 1/2 the population. If you can't handle the truth, why in no-god's name would you ask such a stupid question?

If you are a fundamentalist atheist, you might struggle a little, but that's on you, not them
