Eternal punishment is pointless.

RE: Eternal punishment is pointless.
The eternal punishment is justified. The punishment comes to those who have unforgiven sin, sin that is not forgiven will last for eternity because the sin is against the eternal God. So leave this life with sin and there's no chance of repentance, no repentance, no forgiveness, no forgiveness means the sin last for eternity and the eternal punishment is justified because of the never ending sin. If you have unforgiven sin in your life you can not worship a holy and eternal God, so one's downfall comes before the "not worshiping God" thing so many of you think gets you sent to hell, you're headed that way even before you don't worship.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Is it justified because it makes sense to you or because it makes sense to God? In either case, who is it you claim to speak for?

You seem too eager to accept the posture of an obedient child in relationship to your god for all time. Naturally you think you'll be rewarded and that anyone less desperate than yourself will lose out. But you might actually be mistaken.

Honestly spending eternity worshipping some dick of a God who does nothing kind of sounds like a hell in itself.

An eternal grudge against people does not justify eternal punishment. That's just petty cruelty.

The fact that you think it's appropriate is not evidence of its innate morality, it's only evidence of your Stockholm Syndrome.

The Abrahamic religions seem to take the view that there is no such thing as an unjust punishment, because the person who makes the rules cannot, by definition, break any rules. That is why I am curious to get the opinion of a follower or two, what is the justice in eternal punishment? When a person is dead and goes into the afterlife, what is the material (or immaterial) gain of subjecting that person to an eternity of misery and horror in revenge for whatever acts that allegedly justify it?

If there is no good here, and it is just revenge for the sake of revenge, if God is inflicting pain and anguish just because he got pissed off, how can this possibly be justified as anything other than the most petty and brutal sort of revenge?

well with a system like that we all go to hell... because we have thoughts and "free" will so any violent thought or wanting to covet a persons wife or soon to be bride is like buying the ticket to hell.

Yeah.....no.... you only live a finite life so why get punished forever. well i posted a video up about hell it was made up. so lets see angry god would be waiting for you because you just cant throw out the OT. Sin is made up even if it was real no one should ever go to hell for a eternity for something they did with their finite lives. and lastly whats so good worshiping god in heaven you do it here on earth as a mortal being isn't that good enough.

I think your looking at the Hell thing through the lenses of Catholisim.

Utlimatly if you strip Hell down to it's core principle, it is eternal seperation from God. Because where in creation can one go to escape an omnipresent God? The Absents of God is the defination of Hell.

So why does anyone need be seperated from God? Because it is clear just from this website not everyone want to be with Him. So again if you spend a life time trying to seperat yourself from God how can a Just God force you to spend an eternity with Him?

Hell does not exist in Sunnis or Shiites or Baptists either. You are not threatened by other religions claims of hell so we don't care what details you argue about which version of hell exists and does not. It is like arguing which bad guy is real "Lex Luther" vs "Darth Vader".

Heaven and Hell, and Allah or Yahweh or Jesus, are all kaleidoscope reflections of humans desires based on our species evolution of gap filling because of false perceptions.

Hell is also a much older concept than all the montheistic religions. The Western religious belief in something like hell probably derived from the old Germanic Hel.

So you would be OK with living with these monsters forever?
You would be happy to share your intimate fellowship and most precious things with people who despised you, everything you stand for (uncompromisingly) and hate you?
This I gotta see.

Yes Cthu, there are only 2 options.
Ever hear of an incorrigible criminal?
One who will NEVER repent.
You put them away for ever. No other choice.

What about when you find it impossible to believe it exists?

So, let`s suppose you`ve been moral your whole life, you just didn`t believe the abrahamic god is real.

You face him/her/it, i imagine this would be a probable conversation:

- Well...I see here you conducted a good life, now let`s see if you worshipped me, it must be written somewhere here...what???

- I`m sorry, I just didn`t believe you were real. I couldn`t believe a god could endorse genocide, stoning homosexuals, stoning children that don`t obey, or people who work during sabbath.

- Shut the fuck up! Logic and rational thoughts are unforgivable sins! And you`re not allowed to be moral if you don`t derive your morals from the fucking bible! To hell with you!

- Well, before i go, fuck you god.
If it`s true that our species is alone in the universe then I`d have to say the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little.
