Atheists... one term if you will...

God.

Tell us what you think about this word.
And why is it even a word?

(this is going to get interesting Argue )

It's used as a description for something that some people believe exists.  It's quite a nice word, rolls off the tongue if you're frustrated and you just want to say "Ohhhh godddd"  It's good for use during orgasms too I find.

It really does vary on how I feel about the word as to what context it's in, it could vary from "OHHHH GOD THAT WAS GOOD, hey want to talk to me about god? Oh god Trevor came in late today again" The word by itself doesn't make me feel much.

I think you're wrong about the thread getting interesting based on the fact that it's based on this fairly mundane question... unless you want to expand on what point you might be making?

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Now I see.

I missed the emotional aspect the first time around.

God makes me feel nothing.

Feckless nothing.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

God = A term invented by priests both to pretend they had the power to explain the inexplicable and to exploit the human tendency to establish hierarchies by making an intangible "super-king" by which they could wield power in society without being "Alpha Males" like the kings they were rhetorically outclassing.

In today's use, it simply means whatever that particular group of adherents want it to mean, but it still stands in for "things we don't know but like to pretend we know" and "ultimate social control mechanism".
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

I describe it however I see fit. If you have a problem with that, it's your problem and I couldn't give a shit.

For one, he did provide a term which I think those who reply should abide by.

However, the emotional angle is also one of quite the trickster nature.

Why, there's no emotion involved thinking about god. Only when thinking about his more obnoxious followers, emotions kick in with a vengeance. And these aren't good vibes, that much I can tell you.
