This, probably more than anything, though the story of Onan does give some simblance of justification. It's the same thing as saying thoughts are as bad as actions. Anything to make you think you're inherently evil, and constantly in need of repentance.

Some believe sex should only be for procreation between married couples, so anything that deviates from that is bad. Masturbation, contraception, and abortion. Even sex education, which a proven way to reduce STDs, unwanted pregnancy, abortion, divorce, and pretty much any problem related to sex these people can come up with. They don't understand that teens and young adults are going to have sex, so you might as well make it safe sex. It's like telling a kid not to use a seatbelt when they drive.

Sex is somehow dirty and wrong, and the repressed are therefore obsessed with it.

Controlling who does it, how they do it, when they do it, how often they do it, etc.

Christians love masturbation and porn. It's just that they don't want YOU to love masturbation and porn. There's a whole sect dedicated to just this concept: Promisekeepers.

Probably because porn is usually a video of an unmarried couple having sex.

You know that feeling of regret, shame and disgust with anything sensual, you briefly get after an orgasm, while you turn off whatever you were watching, pull up your underwear and remove the belt from your neck?... That feeling - extended for a lifetime - is the quintessence of christianity. All abrahamic religions, in fact.

It does make me really sad people imposing these feelings of shame and guilt onto themselves, over mostly harmless things like masturbation. And having to lie about it.

It's actually beneficial, so you can cause yourselves problems by limiting it too much.
