Why is it that things like Masturbation or appreciating the beauty of the female body considered bad in the realm of Christianity? Is it really just another form of a control?

The myth that the bible is against masturbation comes from the misinterpretation of the story of Onan. God struck him down for refusing to impregnate his dead brother's wife by pulling out and spelling his seed. This has also been wrongly interpreted to imply that the bible is against contraception.
It all goes to show that it matters what people think the bible says, rather than what it actually says, most of the time. Feel free to send me a private message.

It has much to do with the much older concept of Askesis, which is supposed to give you purity and to steer you away from worldly matters to something more spiritual. Christianity didn't invent it. The idea has been around for centuries at least when they jumped the train.
Other than that, supressing sexual instincts is a powerful tool of control. If you brand natural needs a sin and you are supposed to be the only remedy, people have to flock to you in order to be saved. RE: I don't understand, why do Christians not like Masturbation or porn

Christianity ain't about telling you what to do so much as telling other people what to do.

Christians do like masturbation and porn, they just don't want you to know that they do. I believe the technical psychological jargon for this is 'steaming great hypocrisy.'

Of course they do. It's part of the "You just want to sin" thing; which translates into, "I'd be doing that if I didn't think I was being judged by an invisible being". Otherwise they'd say, "Why would anyone want to do that?"
Out of each 10 people who claim to have never masturbated, I'd guess maybe 1 of them may be telling the truth. Objections to porn can at least have some grounding in reality, so I can accept that. Feel free to send me a private message.

If you take one of the most basic instincts of man and mark it as a disease (sin), for which you hold the cure (belief in your brand of god), it makes selling your products a lot easier, doesn't it? especially when your entire selling point rests on the inherent guilt of people?

Christians love masturbating. And lying.
Lying about masturbating? Count them in. RE: I don't understand, why do Christians not like Masturbation or porn

Hahahahaha... Oh, shit. You're serious.
No they like it, they just won't admit it. Google a few studies on porn and the bible belt man. |
