But, when you think about it, those ideas were all from other humans, helping out other humans to cope with the difficulties of life. The stranger ideologies are those that suggest for people to hurt others who don't believe, etc. But, again, those ideas are also...from humans. I'm not sad about my epiphany this week, that has made me incredibly happy. But, it's always a little saddening when people who claim to care about you, can't be happy for you, too.  Undecided

Always remember to do what is best for you and not what is best for them.

Don't get me wrong, I try my darndest to get theists on here to see reason, but in the end I really just want them to admit that they truly don't need religion and that they merely choose to believe for the comfort it provides.

But that is who I am, and you are who you are, and the great thing about life is that two people can love and support one another despite their differences.  Religious people seem to have a problem understanding that, because in the end most of them just want everyone to believe as they do.

Unfortunately, religion divides. In the NT, Jesus tells his followers that ''people will hate you, because they hated me, first.'' And sadly, many believers find that passage to mean that tension, division and bigotry is acceptable in Christianity so long as you can link it to Scripture, somehow. (but call it something else) Division and bigotry is looked upon as ''love'' when believers are trying to bring a stray ''sheep'' back to the flock. I just find the whole thing at this point, and have for some time, to be disingenuous.

Supporting people despite their differences is a great example of love.  Heart

The mind always wants to see reason, and religious people tend to see reason against their beliefs as a test; as though god is testing them like he did with Job.

The worst part I remember when I was leaving the faith was the absolute harshness being directed at me from people who were absolute saints so long as I was a believer amidst them.

And that is not love. That is not even Christian.

It's probably best that I fall silent. I'm losing my sense of mindfulness and getting too attached to my own feelings.

Mindfulness run amok...lol.

I don't know about falling silent, but yes, could be that you're OVER-examining your feelings, and matters in general. I'd wager it's probably difficult to get good a sense of what's actually going on like that. Perhaps you should just try relaxing and letting good old-fashioned common sense run the show for awhile.

Don't underestimate it; It's still a hell of a performer under many, many circumstances.

At any rate, I'm hopeful that things will work out the way you'd like.
Feel better soon, Tex. HeartHeart
