My "book" specifically tells me to accept them, so, hopefully I'm not being implemented here.

I don't know anything about the Hadith and the Koran, so I can't say.

Catholics have the Catechism, but King is Protestant and he and I still have the same answer. 

2358 - The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

 Yet somehow christians still have a long history of violence. Some atheists can be violent too. They have their own individual reasons, but since there's no dogma commanding them to do violence, it's not as widespread.

To be fair, there's no "dogma" commanding me to do violence either. On the contrary, my dogma teaches me about forgiveness and turning the other cheek and respect for all human life, even criminals, considering our anti death penalty stance.

Other than to say that it was horribly wrong, I can't speak for the culture and the times of hundreds of years ago, or of the Christians of those times who committed violent acts... because they are long dead, and their children are long dead, as are their great great great grandchildren. Luckily, times change and we have evolved. I don't think it's fair to speak in today's times with today's people and portray Christianity as this thing who's "dogma" commands us to do violence. Mine certainly doesn't.

Biggest freedom was the escape from hypocrisy. A lot of talk the talk, not much walk the walk.

There's still violence and persecution in today's times. It's just good that the enlightenment happened, and secular values have started overriding biblical values. we don't have witch trials anymore. When a pastor tells people that we should go around killing all gay people, most other people will laugh it off instead of taking action.

This is the issue when you attach a religion of a guy saying we should love our enemies to a religion where the god's most common interaction with Humans is killing them, sending his followers to kill them, or threatening to kill them. There was some kind of mixup there.

It all depends on who you ask.
